EMTT FAQ — direct answers
- Is EMTT the same as a magnet I can buy at a store? No. Consumer magnets are static and negligible in strength. MAGNETOLITH operates at up to 80 mT, pulsed at 100–300 kHz.
- How is EMTT different from PEMF? Frequency, field strength, and depth: 100–300 kHz and up to 18 cm, vs. hertz-range PEMF with shallow penetration.
- Will I feel anything? Most patients feel nothing at all — no heat, no vibration, no discomfort. In the Hollander trial, mild discomfort and skin redness were reported more often with EMTT than sham, so generally painless, with minor transient effects possible.
- How many sessions? Typically 4–8 sessions, 15–20 minutes each, per the handout. The Hollander trial used 8 weekly sessions.
- When will I see results? Some notice pain reduction in the first few sessions; tissue-level effects continue for 4–12 weeks after the series.
- Can EMTT be used after surgery? Possibly, subject to evaluation and healing stage.
- Is EMTT a cure on its own? No. At CSRI it is part of a comprehensive, individualized plan, often combined with shockwave and rehabilitation.
Individual results may vary. This is educational, not medical advice or a guarantee of outcomes. EMTT is part of a comprehensive evaluation and individualized care plan at CSRI.
